After watching another pointless episode of the original staged reality TV show - ACA it got me thinking - How does this end up in our living room? The whole basis of tonight’s episode was to put two groups at war with one another in the same room and see what happens.
Seriously - when you put a bunch of hoons and cops in the same room what do you think is going to happen?? will the cops will let the hoons do burnouts? or will the hoons decide to crush their own cars? maybe they’ll kiss and make up? it worries me to think what they will have on next week to brain wash us with - who knows maybe Jews & Arabs??
Upon deeper though it occured to me that the reason behind this is to sell another TV set for Harvey Norman - ironically enough to allow us to watch more of the aforementioned.
Sadly, not even the radio is safe. what is it about music that continuously fails to “Connect” with the soul. honestly is there anybody out there that believes “call me Maybe” connects with them on any form of level?
Or again is it just another way of selling space for an advertisement?
When will the shift take place where someone is recognised for composing something of musical significance - and not for ts commercial viability?
To use another analogy here, take Warhols can of soup as an art form. It highlights the idea that art is everywhere and if we see it often enough we lose sight of the idea that it can be seen as art.
This can be applied on many levels when something is mass produced and pushed upon us day in day out for a length of time, eventually we become immune to it. It loses its appeal. Eventually people look to something different to stimulate the senses - something like a Piccasso for example. (at least until the senses become immune to that.)
Where am i going with all this?
I for one am so tired of being requested to cover the music that fails so badly at connecting with my soul.
I am sick of re heating Campbells soup night after night looking at that plain label. where is the next Picasso that is going to force me to ask questions about things I never thought of asking? or getting back to my main point - where is the music that is going to connect to the soul - The music that will make your feet move, your head think and your heart feel?
